This is not a recommended training spot, especially not if doing an advanced certification course, like we were doing. Please note that it was not our instructor who took us there, but our own (stupid) idea to do last of a series of dives in this generally beautiful area at “the Caves”, part of the Protea Banks. Of a group of approx 8 divers only a few reached our destination, reason being strong currents and serious depth. Not a hell of a lot to see down there either, not to say blurry sight at a brownish barren rock area. If you missed the sleeping tiger shark (like everyone but two did), nothing happened at all. It is said that this is a hit or miss spot. I truly believe it to be a hit some days, but not for us. However, if possible, I will be back to hit it once. |
