   Stunning country

On a round-the-world trip, we came to East Timor to extend our Indonesian visa, as many other tourists did. However, we found a destroyed country of stunning beauty where we decided to spend a couple of weeks. Marine life exploration was limited to seeing many cruising dolphins and whales (what species we still don’t know - big ones though) whilst just driving early morning buses along the coastal highway, and, of course, snorkelling. During our snorkelling sessions we encountered many black- and white tipped reef sharks, turtles, and beautiful coral, including the usual accompanying reef life. Reason might be that the Island is surrounded by one of the deepest oceanic channels of the area, making a huge drop-off all along the coast. I am pretty sure that diving will be as good as it gets!
