| Isla de Holbox |
|
Description:
Just of the northeast tip of the Yucatan peninsula lies the island of Holbox. This stretch of land is rapidly developing into a touristic beach destination. The town itself still has the charm of a quiet little Mexican village and the number of restaurants is limited.
Isla de Holbox is a breeding ground for Hawksbill turtles and druing the months of June till September high numbers of Whalesharks visit the waters around the Island.
Although some resort advertise with running dive operations, there is no significant diving near the island. The neares reefs are serious boat rides away from the island, so if it is reef diving you are after, then locations like Cozumel offer better options.
During the same season as the whale shark season, over 400.000 flamingos visit the Island. | | | Details: |
