Description:
The Finger Lakes of New York State were formed during the last glacial ice age. Following earlier stream channels, the Wisconsin glacier dug deep "U" shaped valleys which filled with meltwater. Maintained by rainwater runoff, these lakes are both clear and clean. Depths can exceed 600 feet.

 Dive conditions: Lakes, Fresh water
 Seasonality: Most of the year the lakes are free of ice. However colder winters may freeze the shallower of the Finger Lakes.
