Description:
Often overlooked by divers headed for Komodo, Manado or the Lembeh Strait, Bali diving is special in its own right. Either as an add-on to an Indonesia diving trip or as a complete and inexpensive dive vacation with the added benefits of Bali's unique culture and shopping for the creations of Bali's many artists.
Bali is situated in the Indo-Pacific, the world’s richest marine biogeographic zone. The island, therefore, receives very plankton-rich waters and so contains a stunningly diverse underwater ecosystem as well as many totally different physical environments.
Bali’s dive sites offer great diversity: vertical walls and sand slopes; shipwrecks, steel and wooden; limestone shorelines and black, volcanic outcrops; peaceful bays and ripping currents; deep, coral-covered ridges, shallow seagrass beds and big bommies with both shore- and boat-diving.
The pelagics you seen include mantas, whale sharks and, Aug-Nov, Mola-Molas (Sunfish).
Altogether there are more than 2,000 species of reef fish in Bali’s waters, and then there are the eels, octopus, cuttlefish and squid, the crabs, lobster, turtles, starfish, shrimp, and nudibranches.
The reefs contain profuse hard and soft corals, gorgonian and other seafans, coral bushes, sponges including some massive barrel sponges. So why not come and discover the secret for yourself! | | | Details: |

Seasonality: The Rainy Season (north-west monsoon) is officially October - March. In addition, if you study the lunar calendar and the monsoon patterns along with the rich, cold upwelling to East Bali and Nusa Penida from the south of Bali during the south-east monsoon, you'll see that Sept-Nov is the best diving season, Apr-Jun is very good, Jul-Aug and Dec are good but Jan-Mar has the least to offer. The season for Mola-Mola (Sunfish) is Aug-Oct. But the above are only general guidelines. |
