Description:
This Bay of the Northsea was closed off in the 70's so there is no current and there are no tides. Every now and then the enclosures to the Northsea are opened to flush the lake. Due to this the water stays brackish at all times. The visibility can be considered poor (less than 5 metres) but this poses no problem since there is mainly smaller reef life to be seen. There are plenty good entry and exit places to and from the lake and there is an abundance of parking places for sports divers. In 2001 about 140 concrete hollow "balls" have been dumped at about 18 meter depth, to create an artificial reef, which today is inhabited by a wide variety of marinelife, such as lobsters, sponches, anemones all kinds of fish and oysters. | | | Details: |
