Description:
Not your average tourist destination, but very rewarding nevertheless. The north shore of East Timor hosts more than 25 shore dive sites within 45km East or West of the capital, Dili. East Timor's coral is varied, healthy and huge - some acropora table corals can be measured in metres and most are completely undamaged. Shark enthusiasts will be thrilled to see White-Tip and Black-Tip Reef sharks on virtually every dive. Turtles are very common, too - one diver described a recent encounter with a turtle "as big as a door".
