Description:
Small Island 18 miles from mainland Honduras. Famous for its Whale Shark population and its stunning diving. On the south side there are shallow fringing reefs, top of the reef starts at 5 mtrs and drops gently to 30 mtrs; the north side is on the edge of the Bonacca Ridge the worlds second largest barrier reef with 1,000 mtrs drop offs. A wide variety of fish and coral will be found here.

Starting in 2005 Deep Blue Divers in Utila are starting one of the largest Whale Shark Research projects ever under taken in the Caribbean they will have research scientists to assist and will be using various spotter boats and planes to maximise the chances of seeing Whale Sharks
