Description:
This small Island, 32 km (20 miles) west of the main Island of Puerto Rico, is inhabited by only 2000 people. Due to it's history as a Navy base from 1975, most fishing activities have been prohibited since. Therefore the marinelife has long been relatively undisturbed and are abundant today and the reefs are in excellent condition. The majority of the island is a nature reserve and as such protected both above and underwater. It's a favorite spot for migrating birds, but the island also inhabits special native birds.

Details:
 Nearest commercial airport: San Juan
Average watertemp: Min 25 - Max 30 oCelcius.
 Average visibility: 10 Horizontal metres
 Bottom composition: Sand, Corals, Rocks
 Dive conditions: Ocean/Sea, Salt water
Seasonality: The peak tourist season is between December and April, but this has more to do with the climate in North America than anything else. During these months the island is swamped by visitors, prices are highest and accommodations can be hard to find. The best time to avoid the crowds is during the official hurricane season (May through November). Although hurricanes are rare, they're able to do more than put a dampener on your holiday. Definitely keep an eye on weather reports if you're in Puerto Rico at this time.
